Donna
Seegmueller sent me some pictures of a beautiful pillow she made using dahlias and leaves from my book and gave me permission to share it with you. Isn't it beautiful!
Here's what she said about making it:
"As
for some construction details, I reduced the pattern to 75%. I
selected the colors from my stash of batiks and applied fusible
interfacing, then fussy cut each petal, mirroring the images a couple of
times to achieve directional movement one would see in a garden. For
dimension on each flower, I heat set all the petals, then using
coordinating variegated thread I stitched each petal from its center to its
edge only to secure. The hummingbird on the left is an applique, adapted
and mirrored from the 3-D embroidery on the right. That design came with
my Husqvarna/Viking embroidery machine, in case you need to make note of it.
Finally, I quilted the background by tightly stippling between the
stems and then switching to outline quilting of the humming birds wings for the
sky.
I hope your readers enjoy my creation. I enjoyed the challenge and thoroughly
enjoyed working with your design.

I love seeing everyone's projects!

Summer Travel
Oh, the places I've been! As I look back on the last couple of months, I think I've been busier than ever. There's been two large trips and then lots of weekend trips, with a few days to try to regroup and then off again.
My husband and I took a road trip to Eastern Washington, and a little of Western Idaho, then South and around to get home again. We found lots of wheat fields and some beautiful old barns. While the weather wasn't at it's best (and even when it was nice) we were able to take some pictures from the side of the road, by pulling the car over and rolling down the windows.
When the weather was nice and we could stand outside, more pictures were taken and I was able to do some sketching.
July took me to Sisters Oregon, meeting up with friends for a week of Quilter's Affair classes and the Sisters Quilt Show in Sisters, OR, where I was also invited to do a book signing at the Stitchin' Post for two afternoons after class!

Stray Threads Show
Last month, I was the featured artist at the Stray Threads quilt show "Hollywood Encore", here in Woodinville, and I thought that those of you that couldn't make it to the show might like to see what my space looked like. My area was in the front entry of the old Woodinville schoolhouse, so quilts were split between the two sides, leaving the center open for the quilters to pass through to come or go upstairs. While it seems strange to have it split this way, it worked out very well!
Some friends in the guild helped me set up and we tackled the challenge of working around the furniture, because we weren't allowed to move it. Luckily, I brought some of my baskets to hold patterns, as well as a hinged quilt ladder and pop-up shelving. The guild let me use some of their standards, but we even used the stair railing, piano and other furniture, fitting quilts and products everywhere. It's a good thing my table wasn't any larger!
Ready for quilters...
Thank you Stray Threads and everyone who helped and visited my booth, it was a fun show!!!

Camano Island Quilters
This morning I did my Power Point presentation for their quilt guild and everyone enjoyed themselves. These ladies love getting together and had a feast of snacks to share as well. I was really surprised when this lady opened her quilt for show and tell and it was the cover quilt from my book! I wish I knew her name (maybe someone will leave a comment with her name and I can add it), but was happy I had my camera to take a picture. The lady that made the quilt is standing behind it in the first picture, and behind it in the second, because they held it up higher so that I could take a better picture. She did an awesome job!!!
The Camano Island Quilters are a great group of ladies, and I'm looking forward to spending tomorrow with them too!

Quilters by the River
One of my trunk shows came home while I was in Sisters, Oregon, so today I took them down to my local quilt shop, Gathering Fabric for a short visit before they leave for the next stop on their trunk show tour. While Susan, the owner was hanging the quilts, a group of quilters that belong to Quilters by the River in Sedro-Wooley, came in and were surprised to find me there. It was nice chatting with them, signing books and we even had our picture taken to remember the event!

OMG, I was blown away yesterday when a package arrived from my publisher! Inside was a copy of my book with a letter stating that it had been reprinted again, and this copy was from the third printing. It was only released the beginning of October, so it has only been out for a little over 6 months!
Thank you everyone!!!!!

Garden, Quilt, Knit, Knit, Weave... and Book Giveaway!
Since April showers are supposed to bring May flowers, I thought it might be time I offered to giveaway a copy of my book! Post a comment to this post before April 15th, and on April 15th, I'll draw a winner, so you can start making a floral quilt in May!
This year, my gardening started indoors, planting seeds in flats, but is now moving outside. Space has been cleared for the peas, and they're now all in the ground. There are two kinds, snow peas and snap peas, and we're looking forward to eating the fruits of my labor in the future. In the meantime, I'll be watching over these, as well as the other babies that will be to small to go outside for a while, like tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and some others.
The stack of sewn blocks for the Figs and Ginger quilts is growing, and I get a feeling of satisfaction every time I get to change to the next set of colors!
I've ripped back to my mistake on the Aquitaine Cuffs, fixed the error, and am now ready to move on:
My green Oatmeal Sweater, is moving along, and for those that were wondering what I was going to make with the yarn I'm spinning, this is the project that inspired the wool purchase, but since I'm making it in the green yarn, I'll probably choose a pattern when the yarn is finished. The sleeves have been attached, and I'm now working on the pattern at the bottom of the yoke and working up, so I'm nearing the finish line! (Sorry, this isn't the best picture - the sweater is really green.)
On the weaving front, I've finished the scarf I showed you last time, and have begun to weave the last scarf on the warp. This one will go much quicker, because the treadling pattern is easier, and I'm only using one shuttle!

Sew Expo - Puyalup, WA
If you're headed to Sew EXPO in Puyallup, WA this week, I'm going to be signing books and demonstrating machine quilting in the Quiltworks Northwest booth on Friday and Saturday, from about 10am till about 3or 4pm. They will have half the quilts from my book in their booth, and the other half are hanging at their store in Bellevue. If you miss the show, you'll be able to see the quilts at their shop for the first three weeks this month, and then they'll be on their way to other shops.
Come by the Quiltworks Northwest booth and say hi, have me sign your book, I'd love to meet you!
If you're wondering if the Flower Show Quilts will be coming to visit a shop near you, the trunk show schedule is on my website.

Time for celebration, book review and a giveaway!
Flower Show Quilts is packed with beautiful florals on patchwork backgrounds, and contains all the everything needed to re-create the quilts as I made them. There are ten projects, from table runners to lap sized quilts, and not only includes the patterns and instructions for each design, but also stepped out instructions for my methods of turned edge applique, raw edge applique, foundation piecing, and even a section dedicated to free motion quilting! While I was writing the book, I decided to make the table runner in three different colorways, just to show you that quilts don't have to be made "just like the picture in the book", you can change colors to make a quilt you will be happy living with or giving as a gift. When I was at Quilt Market in October, I saw one at the EE Schenck booth that had the flowers on a beautiful blue background!
If you already have my book, I'd really appreciate it if you would post a review on Amazon!
Last week I received an email from Martingale, letting me know that they were ordering more books printed, hurray!!!!!
I had planned to do a book giveaway closer to its release, and since that never happened, I figure there's no time like the present. So leave me a comment here or on one of my Facebook pages (links on the right side of my blog page and below) and I'll draw a winner next Monday! That gives you a week, but I'd advise you to leave the comment before you forget and miss the boat :-)

BPQ Vendor Booth
For those of you who weren't able to make it to the Block Party Quilt Show, I thought you might like to see some pictures from my booth. My friend, Ellen helped me with the entire show, from set-up through take-down, as well as helping me sell books at my lecture at the Stray Threads Quilt Guild meeting on Thursday night (yep, it was on the same day as set-up, so I needed all the help I could get), and I have to say, I wouldn't have been able to do it without her. THANK YOU ELLEN!!!
Setting up the booth was a bit tricky, as we had to leave space to add my book quilts in the hour before the show opened, because I needed them for my lecture on the night before. Here's how the booth looked on the first couple of days:
I realized that I should have hung the poppies at the top of the booth, so it would be at eye-level, but when you've got less than an hour to decide and hang 11 quilts, you just want to get them up. At the end of the day, we rearranged a couple to make the booth look better:
Inside the booth, there was even more to see:

Houston Quilt Market - Day 2
It was another wonderful day at Quilt Market! As my only day without a "schedule", I was able to check out the quilt show, browse the vendor area, make new friends and more! Being a new author, I just had to check and see who had it on display in their booth (besides my publisher, Martingale / That Patchwork Place), and the first one I located was in the Checker booth:
The next one I found was in the United Notions booth:
When I finally made my way to the E.E. Schenck booth, I noticed that they also had my book (sorry, no picture, because my camera battery died), and when the sales lady noticed me and asked if she could help, I said I had just noticed that they were carrying my book, and came to find out that they had done a demo of my table runner earlier today! I also was able to meet the lady who did the demo and see her quilt top, and only wish I had been able to take a picture and remember her name. Thank you E.E. Schenck!!!
Now yesterday, when I ran into Libby Lehman and Elinor Peace Bailey I would have liked to have taken their picture, but again, my camera battery had already run out (I've got to get a new battery or camera), but when I ran into Libby again today, she posed for me to take one for my blog. If you ever get a chance to take class with her, go, you'll learn a lot, even if you've been quilting for years!

Quilt Market - Wish you were here...
I'm having so much fun here at the Houston Quilt Market!!!
Yesterday, was schoolhouse day, and I've received compliments on the presentation I did for my book, Flower Show Quilt. One of the nicest compliments, was a shop owner that enjoyed my presentation enough to bring a friend with her to my demo this afternoon, because she wanted to share my book and quilts with her. (While I wasn't able to take pictures of myself speaking, I'm looking forward to receiving some from a friend and hope to post them soon.)
I also had a chance to meet quilt shop owners in person, like Terry, who has scheduled all three trunk shows for my book, Flower Show Quilts to arrive at her shop for different months next year!
When I stopped by the APQS booth, I was invited to return to their booth after my book demo to quilt on George, and of course, I took them up on it and came back to quilt for a while in their booth. While satisfying my need to be quilting, Heidi took a picture of me with their George!
Tomorrow, I'm planning to check out more booths, as well as take some time to see quilts on exhibit. I know there is never enough time to see everything (at least not as long as I'd like to spend looking at everything), but I'll take my camera with me, and see how far I get!

Book Signing and Party pictures
For those that weren't able to make it to my book signing party yesterday, I thought you might like to see a few pictures, because it was the most beautiful, over the top book signing ever! Gathering Fabric and my friends Ellen and Becky outdid themselves with all the decorations, food, flowers, and even a couple gifts, that I'll save for another post!
On the way into the shop, there was a mini-gallery, and tables full of food so that everyone could stop and have a snack and drink, including a beautiful cake, which was decorated with the cover of my book! Everything was beautiful, and it was so nice to be able to spend time chatting with everyone!
Most of the quilts from the book were hung in the front corner of the shop, where they have a sofa, so that quilters could sit and have their picture taken with me, if they wished.
From left to right, Susan, owner of Gathering Fabric, Ellen, Lynn (me), and Becky. I had hoped to post one of the pictures without us holding the book, but this was the best one (I wish I had had my camera with me, but didn't, so these are some of the ones my husband took, and I'll post more later, if others have some they can share).
Here's my pattern section. Amazingly, I have 24 different patterns there, and more on their way, as soon as I finish writing them up!
The back of her clasrom is where she has most of my quilt samples, but my smaller, more embellished fish quilt is on the table, along with Wine Country Picnic.
