Creative Twist and Demo next week

Tuesday, October 13, from 10am - 3pm, is the next Creative Twist class, and it is called "Fun with Paintsticks". We will be stenciling and doing rubbings to create, or add to our fabrics, which in turn can be used for quilts, garments, or anything else you like.

Friday, October 16, from 12-3pm, I'm doing the Bali Pops demo at Gathering Fabric. I'll be showing everyone how I made my coiled clothesline tote from a Bali Pop, packaged clothesline, and a handle. I'm also working on a larger version (this one is giant) that is in progress that I will also be bring. Here's a quick picture of the one that is down at the shop, but before the handle was stitched on and closure finished.

Creative Twist

Don't forget, Tuesday, April 14 is the next Creative Twist class! During the last class, everyone decided they would like to learn how to do my raw edge applique, from the back technique that I used for the flowers on my vest. Students can choose to applique a sunflower or dhalia from the patterns I supply, or work on their own design, that can become a quilt, garment, or just a sample.

The class will be from 10-2, at Fresh Air Farm, which is just up the hill from Gathering Fabric quilt shop. Sign up for class is at Gathering Fabric, and supply list and pattern is online at our Yahoo group. (Susan says we can stay past 2pm if we would like.)

Some free motion work

This is a new sea sponge I made yesterday - do you think it looks anything like a basket sponge? Originally, I had intended for it to be golden colored sea sponge, thin enough to see through, even though you really can't do that with the real thing, but I just kept adding layers until I ended up with this: Still planning to make a lighter, more sheer little project, I decided to create a leaf. At least this time I was able to stop while it still had a few open spaces. Maybe I shouldn't work so late into the night?

No, I don't have a specific project in mind, I'm making some new samples for the first Creative Twist class that is being held here in Woodinville, at Fresh Air Farm. It is a continuing bi-monthly class where we will be exploring all sorts of techniques, with this month's lesson being free motion lacy techniques on water soluble stabilizers. I'm hoping our weather will cooperate, so we can have fun in class and not be snowed out. We're keeping our fingers crossed.
