Hand Made Cards

Making cards and scrapbooking comes and goes in my life, depending whether I have the time and / or space to have the supplies out, or time to get them out.  It's nice to be able to make a last-minute card amd I thought I'd show you a couple simple cards that were just finished.

Now if I'd had a little more time, it would have been nice to either add more layers, or ink the edges.

Summer Travel

Oh, the places I've been!  As I look back on the last couple of months, I think I've been busier than ever.  There's been two large trips and then lots of weekend trips, with a few days to try to regroup and then off again.

My husband and I took a road trip to Eastern Washington, and a little of Western Idaho, then South and around to get home again.  We found lots of wheat fields and some beautiful old barns.  While the weather wasn't at it's best (and even when it was nice) we were able to take some pictures from the side of the road, by pulling the car over and rolling down the windows.

When the weather was nice and we could stand outside, more pictures were taken and I was able to do some sketching.

July took me to Sisters Oregon, meeting up with friends for a week of Quilter's Affair classes and the Sisters Quilt Show in Sisters, OR, where I was also invited to do a book signing at the Stitchin' Post for two afternoons after class!

More Watercolor Experiments

I started another watercolor that looks like collage, but am not sure I like it's direction (although now that I'm writing this post, looking at it in a smaller form, it's not so bad, and I'll have to go back and finish it).

So, I set it aside and began another, this time working in multi-color, and was much happier!

(This one may end up getting a bit more shading when I get back to it.)

Watercolor Excercise

I've been playing with my watercolors again.  This time I'm working from a lesson in Watercolor Magazine, working in an improvisational way to make a watercolor painting that looks like it might have been a collage.  It's all free-form, adding shapes as I went and shading to create depth.  I used a screen shaped window, saved from bags of fall bulbs to stencil the grids of squares and rubber stamps to create the complex designs.

Madrona Collage

Using some of my hand painted collage papers, paint and painting mediums, on a larger than I've ever worked canvas, I've tried to combine abstract and realistic forms in this Madrona collage.

New Logo?

Well, I've been wanting to change my logo for quite a long time. Playing with Photoshop and InDesign today, I finally came up with these that I kind of like. What do you think?

Sketchbook Journal

Since so many people are interested in starting or viewing sketchbooks and journals, I thought that while I'm working on other things that are slow going, or that I can't post as yet, you might like to see some of the things in my sketchbook journal once in a while. It is a combination journal, sometimes only written words, sometimes only sketches (some quick and very rough, but enough to remind me of the idea), and sometimes a combination. This sketch was done while waiting for lunch in Allyn, WA in a restaurant, and maybe sometime I'll get around to making a quilt out of it.
